Society Contact Details and Welcome
Mr Stephen D. Walsh
Welcome to the 2011-2012 academic year of the Planning Society. Following the AGM and election of the committee, the Society has been working hard to organise events and commit itself to outreach with other campus organisations. We hope this site will provide you with exciting and relevant information about Society activities and Irish planning.
About the Society
The Planning Society (PlanningSoc) is the academic association on campus concerned with the social welfare of communities and the natural and built environments. The Society is charged with the mission of fostering knowledge, practice, and advocacy of planning as well as community amongst PlanningSoc members and the wider body of UCC.
PlanningSoc maintains open membership to all UCC students. We encourage students from other displicines and those with genuine interest in planning to join our meetings and events. All Masters in Planning and Sustainable (MPlan) students are members of the Society. PlanningSoc holds a loose relationship with the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) as many MPlan students are student members of the institute.
Currently, the Society has 7 elected members on the Committee that plan and organise events on behalf of the Society membership. Details of meetings are contained in the Minutes. Should you have any questions or comments, do not hesitate to contact us. There are two ways to contact the Committee: Should you have a general comment or question, please use the e-mail provided above. Should you have a specific issue related to a Committee member’s function, please address address your query to him or her via the e-mail address provided on the Committee page.
